Okay. I'm at a loss for how you trim the cables to length. Installing new cables on my "new" cab (thanks Ed) and do you pull the inner solid part out and then trim the outer and reinsert, or is there a better way to do it?

Yes, Pull the inner cable out, cut the housing to the desired length (making sure you don't get it too short, of course). Be sure to remove any burrs at the cut end and file it smooth. Once you have done this, reinsert the cable and hook it up, making sure to leave yourselfe a little "wiggle room" in the whole works. Then, trim off the excess length on the inner cable.

Grease the core wire with a light coat of lithium grease while you have it out, will work smooth for many years longer than an unlubed cable.

This is the "second women" in my life! Had her for over 20 years. Last year when I went to get her "inspected" I was told that she wouldn't pass this year because of the rust on the cab. Its the ONLY thing that I have not replaced.
Thanks to Ed (XM708) for the cab. She's just getting a quick paint job, new harnesses and some other new parts that I've had on the shelf for years.
The "third women", truck number 710 comes out of the shed next year for a redo. Started her 6 years ago and never got back to it. These are the only 2 I have left and are the best.
Thanks for the hints on the cables.
