Greetings all,
After many years of wanting one I final got my first MV. It is a 1962 M37B1. It originally had a winch but it is missing now. I haven't started sanding the hood yet, but I can just make out a faint US Army. I did manage to uncover some bumper numbers. The passenger side bumper says 412C B926E, and the driver side says C8. I think this means it belonged to the 412 Engineer Command, 926 Engineer Brigade. I would love to know what the C8 means. I am also surprised to see that one of my dash tags shows ORD Dept. I have not seen anyone else mention that. I attached a few pictures. One is as I found it and the others after I got it home. I have gotten it running but now I need to start the real work. If anybody knows a place to get a cheap exhaust manifold I am going to need one. Most of the truck is rust free, just a little in the bed and at the back of the transmission cover. I think this is going to be a great project.
Jon

The Army marked all their trucks Ord Dept , USAF for Air Force ,etc.
The C 8 would be the vehicle number in that unit. C company vehicle number 8.
That's great you were able to find history still left on your truck! Welcome here, your in a amazing group of guys that between them all know everything there is to know it seems like about a M37.

Welcome Jon! That's a nice starter for sure-much better than many of the projects some of us started with ( and some like me are still working on our first M37 project)! Feel free to use the Search engine above or post your many questions, as this remains an active forum with daily traffic and posts!

Re: Just got a M37 and I have a few questions
I got a nice early Christmas present today. The state of Mississippi was good enough to issue me the first title my truck has ever had. Not only was the title no big deal but for just $25 more I got an antique plate that is good forever. I know MS is not great at everything but they have the DMV figured out.

That is some good news, almost the same deal here, except you don't have to display the issued tags, they should be in the vehicle.
