Well, of course doing so just makes sense, after all, the latter is supposedly more reliable, the former obsolete. But It isn't quite so simple for my 100 amp M 42. A prior owner or perhaps the army, long ago did a retro-fit turn signal installation, putting the relay box, the about 6 inches square box with terminals on both sides, on the firewall. The wiring harness was replaced at the same time or later, with what I was told is a "NATO" kit. Has what looks like some sort of "issue" front turn signals, and rear Military ones. The turn signals do not work, although every other light, even the BO's, do work fine. The former owner told me they did at one time, and when he manually triggers the relays, they still do, suggesting the problem is somewhere in the 600.
While I am competent with most automotive tasks, reading wiring diagrams and hunting down issues with wayward electrons is not one of them. So, hoping the failure is indeed in the stalk 600, (and I will check the bulbs and grounds and wiring connectors) that is why for me just re-connecting a new 600 is the easiest, least likely to foul-up step for me. I am wondering if the wiring of a 900 would be just too confusing for me to do correctly. I have tried to isolate on-line 600 wiring diagrams, and I can't be sure I am looking at the correct one.
I am a little over three weeks out from a Knee Replacement, and doing just exceptionally well, I think because I am relentless with my home PT exercises, but I don't think I can climb all over my truck for several weeks yet to start on this first project. But while I continue to ponder this, any suggestions or reassurance for me would be appreciated. I got my truck about a month ago out of NE, and immediately had it flatbedded further down to Columbia, SC, to my son't work garage. So I don't have it here right now. I spend hours a day pouring over my truck's needs and ordering the minor items I will need to make it all OEM in short order, being retired, and having all the time in the world. Here is a picture, just to show again what I have to start with.
Thanks, NAM VET in upstate SC

Hi NAM VET, Where are you located in upstate SC?
We have a group of guys in the area that might can help out looking at your truck. The retired Army Colonel in our group had me track down a short in his M101 trailer. Plus when he has the time we are going to sit down and install turn signals on his M37.
So give me a shout and we can help you out. Alan

Oh wow, how nice it would be to meet up with other vintage truck enthusiasts. I live in Rock Hill, just south of Charlotte. Where are you guys?
Drove my daughter's turbo Mini this pm, had no problem with the clutch, so I anticipate being able to drive my truck in about two weeks.

appreciate the invite. I sent you my pvt phone and email a few minutes ago. Spartenberg is only about 45 or so minutes cross country, but at 55 mph. Please keep me in your circle and I look forward to meeting up with your clan.
