The first attempt at starting my 1953 M37 Canadian model, that has been sitting for several years, failed because of no spark. After several days of consternation I finally worked up the nerve to pull the distributor. Much to my relief it looked like a normal distributor inside. I replaced the points, rotor, condenser, and both caps. I filled the carburetor with fuel and the beast fired right up.

It has 30 PSI of oil pressure and the generator is charging. Since it has a leaky fuel tank I can only run it until the float bowl goes dry. The previous owner ran it by mounting an outboard gas tank on the fender. At least I know it's worth spending some more money on.
