Stalling when engine heats up

Runs for 15-20 min, then dies. I walk away and leave it foe 20 min., starts up and runs fine again – til it dies again.

I notice carb is wet top to bottom (see pic) Stuck float flooding engine?

Would appreciate help!

Thanks

is it flooding? you smell gas when it dies? got spark when dead? kinda sounds like coil bad

Haven't checked spark yet. Will do. I do smell gas – it's soaking the carb.

Thanks!

your float is to high if the top cap is leaking @ idle.

next time it dies immediately pull a wire and check for spark.

When I first got my truck, It barely ran after I put new batteries in it and first cranked it over. After a month of limping around, I sent the carb our for a rebuild and the distributor out for a pertronix ignition.. Today I would do all that work myself, but then it made sense. However, it has run great for years, until this year when it kept dying after a few minutes of running. I replaced the coil and all had been good.

However, when the truck first stopped running, Before the rebuilds, it had a lot of liquid gas pooled in the intake manifold, kind of like your truck. I am betting you have a carb issue. For some reason, you are running rich.

Check for a nice blue spark. If you have that, I'd look at the carb first. Its a crap shoot. The coil could be going out on you.

Keep us informed on what you find
