Did AF M37 come with a tailgate equipped with shovel, axe and pick?

Hi Tank,

Yes they did. I believe all M-series vehicles had Pioneer tools and rack installed.

I sought the answer to this question too. Lifer, who served in the AF and was a great member here and is now deceased, told me that the pioneer kits were only issued when they were needed. If your truck lived on the flight line, there is little likelihood of you needing to dig out of the mud. Also, it was not common for them to have spare gas cans either, though we all display them that way.

Looking at the specs and manuals, it looks like they all had the rack. Whether they had the tools in the rack depended on use.
