Hi Billy,

The hood number is the truck's Registration Number with the military. This number was assigned when the truck was produced and stayed with it for the life of the vehicle. There's no way that I'm currently aware of to determine where that truck was located or served. The bumper numbers were what indicated the division/unit, etc the vehicle served in and this number was changed when the truck was moved to different owners, but the hood numbers stayed put. You might want to search the registry to see if you can find registration numbers close to one of your combinations.

regards,
bob

Can you post pix of number and position?
Also, frame number.

Wow.......a Marine Corps M37........good find! I know absolutely nothing about the hood numbers of Marine Corps vehicles, but hopefully someone on here can shed some more light on it. It's pretty cool when you find original markings.
