Re: Tune Up Problem?????
are you checking dwell with a dwell meter? gapping only is hit or miss on getting the dwell setting correct. points should last for many 10s of thousands of miles. if dwell is off they will fail prematurely. Also I have found that condensors these days only have about a 50/50 chance of working at all when new and fail regularly. I would put in an NOS condenser or an acell brand hp version.

Hi Bruce,m-37Bruce wrote: Morning Bert, What was the part # /model # for your buddy's Pertronix Ignition, I have looked around, but thought the offerings were a bit confusing, I need the 12 volt version.
Thanks,
I couldn't talk him into installing the Pertronix ignition, sorry I can't help you with a PN for the 12 volt one you need. Call M-Series and talk with Charles, I'm sure he can help you.

I had the same problem with idling. Idled like crap.
Finally trace the vacuum leak to the wiper hose going up by the left windshield. Got that fixed and gained more vacuum.
