Fire Extinguisher
Looking for pics of the correct FE mount.
Re: Fire Extinguisher
There are a series of holes in the right kick panel for the mount. I had one mounted there until I put a hot water heater in the truck. It would no longer fit after that. Posted a picture on the facebook page of it a while back.
"It may be ugly, but at least it is slow!"
Re: Fire Extinguisher
Hi Tin,
I haven't found much on my AF M37 that isn't original...........so I assume this FE mount is. My truck was put together in April of '52. I don't know if the ambulance used a different FE or mount though. Here's what mine looks like.
regards,
bob

Re: Fire Extinguisher
Thanks Bob. My truck has the same holes so its probably the same mount.
Re: Fire Extinguisher
Is there a nice modern mount and extinguisher that fits in that location? Or a modern extinguisher that fits in the orig. mount? I figure if I mount an extinguisher in the truck, I can happily remove fires from things that will go wrong...
Re: Fire Extinguisher
Something tells me you won't be "happily" about it.

Carter,
That is quite the extinguisher! Does it still work? Certainly looks nice, I'd put one in the kitchen just to look at it
. Now if I could just figure out Bob's sense of humor...

Re: Fire Extinguisher
I got the same one Carter has.
Also they can be found on ebay, expensive but how original do you want your truck. I keep a good new one in the box under the bed.

Re: Fire Extinguisher
an ebay search for "pyrene" turns up quite a few results, lots of which come with the mounting bracket, and seem pretty reasonably priced. may have to get one for my dad, he likes old fire extinguishers!

Re: Fire Extinguisher
I bought this one at a yard sale for $15 with mounting bracket, still filled with carbon tet. all I did was polish it then mount. I am aware of the danger the fluid and carry a Co2 5# bottle for truck fires. I have several other brass ones of various manufacture but without bracket so they sit in my parts shelving. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm keeping my eyes open for a bracket and a heavy vehicle pyrene fe.
