Welcome to the "meat wagon" cliche. I own two of the M43s both 1953. One in pieces and slowly making back together and the other restored. Great when the parades are being rained on. I noticed yours has what looks to be an antenna base on the roof, and the spotlight is absent. All the goodies in the interior? That 318 looks good and probably moves that 7200 pound beast up and down the road faster then the original 230 flathead 6.
You will have fun with it. Regards, Mobilized (and draggin' anchor) Medic

ok
2 gallons of lucas 50w for the transmission/t/c
2 gallons 75-90 gl5 for the axles
and on friday i ordered
6 kwik sleeves
and 7 various seals for all these leaks
when everything gets here i will trailer the waggin to the mek-a-niks shop and turn him loose
i minor adjusted the brakes after replacing the stoplight switch and used speed bleeders.
and while i have a firm pedal with no need to pump anymore
i have to push it down farther than i want to (about 4 inches instead of the recommended 2)
succesfully installed the spotlight
BTW
rock auto carried every one of those parts for a fraction of the cost of anyone else
and yes i checked they are all timkin/national etc
i didnt think they would have em
but they did

When you say 2 inches, do you mean the point when the pedal starts to press the master cylinder? If so that can be altered by adjusting the rod linkage between the pedal Clevis and the m/c.

while i would rather do that because its easierlongshot2171 wrote:When you say 2 inches, do you mean the point when the pedal starts to press the master cylinder? If so that can be altered by adjusting the rod linkage between the pedal Clevis and the m/c.

first i will try the tedious major adjustment as per the manual

Billy, I noticed the M43 has a winch on the front. I don't think they came that way from the factory, did they? It does look good on it though. I just looked again and realized that M43 is just the paint scheme you're thinking about, but its still cool looking.

I got mine done in two days and used a 4 inch roller and 1 quart each of rustoleum.
Safety red and gloss white.
I waited 24 hours for the white to dry before I applied the red.
And the cross is composed of 13 inch squares.
I had to make the sides rectangular to cover up the billboard that was painted on the sides.
