same flange, bigger venturi and jets but probably hard to find. a easier carb to find would be a Rochester, it works much better on the 251 than the carter
.............................. use it ...............
As RMS has mentioned, same mount up, and the rest of the stuff is the same. They are out there but I have a couple of trucks that someone converted to power wagon carbs with the civy oil bath filter, Ugly...
Are you looking for a carb changeout? Curious why you would consider the CDN carb.
He's considering the Canadian carb because he's looking for a slightly bigger carb (more CFM) to increase top end power. The 251 carb would be the first obvious choice, unless it's impossible to find. I'm interested to see how this works out.
Unfortunately from what you guys are saying it looks like finding a Canadian carb may be a bit of a trick. As far as jets, I figure I can use 230 jets and enlarge them as necessary, but I suspect the 251 jets won't be too far off.
I may eventually try a Monojet or something else, but I wanted to see if it's possible to stay with a waterproof style setup.
I have a civilian 230 under hood and am glad for it! The absence of all the waterproof stuff and angled manifolds and piping makes working on the truck a damn site easier. And, with less restriction, the downdraft carb and oilbath might give a bit more top end pull. Still toying with a 3x1bbl carb setup as I do tend to like "fiddly®" setups.
