stubborn brake drum screws stubborn no more

Post by 52PLOWERWAGON »

I figured out a trick to day on how to get out them tough brake drum screws

1.spray w/ penetrating oil
2.beat w/ 2 lb hammer
3.heat w/propane torch
4.beat again w/ 2lb hammer
5.thread a 3/8 in bolt in hole used to press drum off
6.tighten snug then turn bolt 4-6 rotations
7.back off bolt
8.use a big flathead screwdriver w/ visegrips attached for leverage

and they should come right out
if not try again starting with step 1

and brush lots of antiseize on the screws so you don't need to struggle next time
Thanks,TRAVIS

Travis,

By the time you're done with your M37 you are going to be an expert at steps 1-4......it's just that kind of vehicle.
