Hi Folks,
I have two spare Transmissions, which I am using to rebuild one good one from.
Both transmissions are missing bolts holding the shift tower in place.
While documentation states part number & tear down instructions, I can't seem to find the actual bolt & thread sizes.
Given part numbers, there appears to be three types of bolts used on the shift-tower cover.
Would anyone happen to have those details so that I can source them from a fastener store ?
Thanks so much,
Derek

Hi Folks,
If it's not possible to find the Bolt Specs for this transmission, if anyone has a spare tranny, can they please measure length, diameter, and thread size ??
Thanks so much

One of the manuals has the specs for bolts. I don't have that manual, but I know someone does, because they gave me the specs for a carb bolt I was looking for once.

Hope this is what your looking for Derek

also, if you list the part #'s, probably someone will be able to look those up and tell you just what they are

Re: Transmssion Specifications for the C-88761
That's fantastic !
Thanks so much guys.
Say Bob,
any insight as far as why the part illustrations identify the bolts, washers, then Bolts & Washers together ?
L - Screw and Lockwasher CC-272524
M - Screw Short CC-1664345
N - Lockwasher CC-110405
P - Screw Long CC-1664346
Q - Screw and lockwasher Short CC-423353
Hmm, I see that I am dealing with a different manual.
Same sizes as the ones you've highlighted though, which is good !
The illustration was really hard to understand.
That one long bolt, where would it go, I guess I can check out the holes with a feeler gauge.
That would quickly solve any questions about depth.
Thanks so much guys.

Re: Transmssion Specifications for the C-88761
The long bolt goes in the front left corner of the cover......it's obvious when you take a look at it, as the cover is much thicker there in that corner.

Re: Transmssion Specifications for the C-88761
Sorry Bob,
One quick clarification.
3/8-16 NC-3 x 1 7/8
This means:
it's a 3/8 diameter bolt.
16 Threads per inch
National Course standard
( Not sure what the -3 stands for ? )
1 7/8 inches in length.

Hi Legion,
The "3" is the class of fit for the threads. They range from 1 to 3 with 3 being the tightest fit. Screws and bolts are way more complicated than they appear.........I doubt the guy down at the hardware store would know the class fit of the hardware they sell. Here's a good site if you want know more........it talks about thread fit about 1/4 way down the page. Enjoy!
