Charging System Problem

Post by DCook »

My truck is a 51 M37, with the 100amp charging system. I have all the 100 amp wiring and components, and these are not well covered in the TM's I have. TM 9-2320-212-20 has a page or 2 at the back of the book on this system.
My truck has not run for a long time, and now that I have it all back together and running, it is not charging. I expected I needed to polarize it and found reference to doing that in other manuals. These references are all regarding standard generators. The reference to the 100 amp is that it is a "Generator (Alternator)", and there is no mention of polarizing it when installed. If this is an alternator it may not need polarizing, and might be damaged if I tried. If it's an alternator, maybe I need to look else ware.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

Rectifiers are known to fail frequently on the 100 amp. systems you might check its continuity.
