You're truck was built in July of 1953. Do you're best to preserve the serial number on the frame, it's the only way to positively identify the truck, which might be required to register it with your state DMV or for that of a future owner. You're lucky to find the original Army registration number under the paint, many M37's histories have been lost. If you found that number on the tailgate there's a good chance your tailgate is original to the truck.....and judging by the excellent condition of it I'd say your truck led an easy life.........tailgates are usually beat to hell from use.......yours looks almost new!

Finding the bumper numbers would be another great find..........and the way things are going for you I'd be surprised if they weren't there. They should be on both the front and rear bumpers. Again, great find on a nice truck. Next you'll be telling us there's no rust under the battery box and the battery tray still has it's drain tube attached!!
