1953 M-37 project starter in Maryland

Post by TreeGuy »

Unrestored 1953 M-37. I bought this untitled truck just for the winch/PTO, but the rest of it seems to be fairly complete and solid. Rust through under the headlights, under the seats and in the toolboxes, but the rest of the sheet metal appears solid. The bed is pretty nice, actually. So is the hood and cab floor. I have not tried to start the engine. A previous owner attempted to convert to 12 volts, but I don't know if that was successful. Engine appears complete. Aircleaner and fittings are there, just not mounted. Transmission shifts as it should and truck rolls around fine. Underside looks solid. Wheel wells are solid with little or no rust. No top but the frame is there. Windshield frame is rough. Doors operate nicely (better than my good condition M-37B-1 ...). Have some other goodies I can let go with it (# and "coolness" of which are directly related to proximity to asking price :) ) Truck would make an excellent candidate for either a full restoration or a rockcrawler/mudbogger or Cummins 4BT conversion. It is located 90 minutes SE of Washington, DC in Southern Maryland. Asking $2,000.00

BTW, I had to reregister to use this site as I had forgotten my old u/n and p/w. :(

MM -- Thanks but this will work fine. Hmmm. I see my computer remembered the login and I'm back to my old u/n. sorry about the confusion.

Bob -- We're in Oakville on Friendship School Rd. Did I talk to you at the Leonardtown Veterans' Day Parade? Or the Tractor Parade last year? Interested in this truck??

Hi Stovebolt,

No, it wasn't me you talked to.........I haven't been to any local shows in awhile. As for interest I might be if I didn't already have 2 in my driveway now. It's good to know there are some MV guys in the neighborhood.

Bob,

There are several of us here in St. Mary's County. I've met another M-37 guy who also has a M-923 series 5-ton (I have an M-817 as well as my M-37), as well as another fellow over on Medley's Neck with an 813. We should all meet up at the Wednesday evening cruisein in Leonardtown (at Arby's) some time. Too many Corvettes there, anyhow ... ;)

John

Hi John,

Sounds like a great idea, but neither of my M37s are running. Guess I could always take my 'vette..........Doh!
Seriously, it would be fun to meet you guys up there. If I get some time I'll dust off the 442 and take that up there.

That's funny.

My neighbor got a brandy-new Vette this fall. They had a Labor day party catered by Mission BBQ, who serve out of a Deuce. I offered the driver $100 to run his M35 over that new Vette. My neighbor failed to see the humor in that!!
Heck.....I was just kidding!
