Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
just wondering: whats the largest diameter tire one can put under the M37 (stock suspension) without having rubbing/steering issues.
I know all the other issues like reducing braking, more effort to get rolling, having to downshift into a lower gear on hills, etc.
just wondering what diameter will fit nicely without interference in the fender wells and or other parts of the body.
I have seen a few trucks with 11:00-16 tires and they look good, but are there issues running them?
I am talking about a stock truck with stock suspension.
while on the subject, whats the widest one could put on a set of stock M37 wheels? I have also seen a few trucks with the super swamper tires mounted on the stock rims, and they appeard to be slightly taller than stock, yet not too wide. I know supper Swampers come in a narrow version but taller. I like the tread style too. Having used them in the past on off road rigs, I really like the performance too.

like these, as found in the gallery section of this site:

appear to be a TSL super swamper...
Anyone know that size? AND.. if so, that appears to be a stock M37 wheel..

Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
to DAP:
you apprear to have those 11:00-16 tires mounted on custom stockton rims? If so, are those stockton rims wider than the stock 6.5: wide M37 wheel?
if so, perhaps 11:00-16 is too WIDE?
To TUKO:
I like the look of the old stly of the super swamper (i think the TSL) over the "bogger" version
What size of Super Swamper are you running, cause I like that look/size/fit on your rig!!
AND.. you are on the stock split rim, correct?
thanks all!

Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
Yes, still on stock split rims. I mounted them myself with no issues. They are Q78x16. They were about $290 a pop when I bought them online about 2 years ago. If you send me a pm with your email or just post it here I can send you more pics, due to the size of them it's tough for me to post them on this site.
Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
please do send any pics you got.
I was thinking that they were perhaps that size, Q78 I mean.
I think the stock 9:00-16 NDT is about 34-36 inches tall?
if so, how do these comapare in size? Are they slightly taller,. The same size?
thanks

Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
even a stock 900r16 (35.5in) ndt on a bud will rub on the inner box fenders when fully twisted just like a 1100r16s(37.5.) the 1100r18(41in) gamma goats with adapter (+ off set) wont rub on the inner but will rub, grab and bend the rear fender if not trimmed @ full articulation. a 44x15(42in) with massive offset will work with a bit of trimming on the rear but will rub on the lower fender support @ full lock.choppa wrote:whats the largest diameter tire one can put under the M37 (stock suspension) without having rubbing/steering issues
a 38.5 to 39.5x12.5 on a bud is a good fit yes they will rub but only in extreme conditions and will put the speed'o out by about 15%................4.89s gives about 20%
Tuko how are the swampers wearing ? better or worse than a NDT?
.............................. use it ...............
Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
they are around 35.5x9.5 ish don't know the exact conversion. Just FYI they are bias ply and get the flat spots out after about 5 miles of driving. Email sentchoppa wrote:please do send any pics you got.

Rms: I've only got about 500 miles on them, too soon to rate them on tread wear
Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
Correct, Stockton rims with Budd centers. Outer shell is still 6.5 I believe. However the 11.00 X 16 is a little fatter and with a shallow center drop off set out about 1/4" to 1/2" so sidewall of Michelins are about 1/2" outside the plane of the rear fender.

Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
I'd go with bigger tires, but then I'd need a taller garage
Re: Largest Diameter tires on stock M37?
I've run 11.00-18's for many years without any problems. They are 42", more or less. I never hit a rear (or front) fender in many miles of off-roading in the AZ desert.
