Canadian ACME Model T-98 Transmission for sale

Post by warryer »

Hi There - I have an extra T-98 Transmission - Canadian model Acme built.

I understand these are rare. I am undertaking an engine swap and need some $ or parts. I will have a second Acme T-98 to sell once the engine swap is complete - as well as a Canadian 251 Chrysler power plant.

Lets start with the transmission... can anyone give me a fair idea what its worth?

I could use the following:

-A more modern "sealed rim" set of wheels that fit.
-Tires
-some form of heater

or...to be honest...just plain $

Well as they say on Pawn Stars RARE doesn't mean worth a lot... The biggest factor is condition, condition, condition.. Good core m37 transmissions are anywhere from 150-200 good used transmission probably 250- 400 pull the top cover and check it out for starters... Hope this helps a little bit...

The Acme T98s are not rare, at least not in Canada, and unless its NOS or an unused rebuild it would only get what the traffic will bear. On the other hand, the Acme PTO is somewhat rare and can bring a good price if its in good or excellent condition. The transmission is worth more as part of a good running, original 251 setup. Even then, the whole thing, fan to trans output, will get maybe $500, less if it needs work and a lot less if its a rebuilder. Shipping will also be a deal maker/breaker. Compared to the 230, the 251 is a superior setup and that would be where the interest would be for an upgrade staying reasonably original.
An unknown, used Acme T98 will bring $100- $150 unless someone is requiring one for an original replacement. If you are patient and price it reasonably, there is a buyer out there.

Wow - thanks guys - sure is different from what a few 2012 threads said on this forum. Oh well - no biggie. When I pull the 251 and transmission, I will just put it on the closet then. Not worth it to sell. The transmission I have is indeed a NOS unit. Never been run...never been installed. Again - not really worth selling if I ever decide to go back to original, I will use it behind the rebuilt 251.

thanks for the info.

Vince, I recall you are local to BC and probably know RMS (Robyn). If you want to sell any of those parts, he will be the one to advise on local value. The value in the US may be more but it seems that anything I want or would like to deal off involves cross continent transport. Very costly for heavy stuff. Just remember not to scrap anything from these trucks. If you can't store it yourself, Robyn would look after it for you
