Re: M37 Hard Top For Sale - Ontario
I'd love to have that, but I'm not driving to Ontario to get it.
Re: M37 Hard Top For Sale - Ontario
My thoughts exactly. A little too far away for me to consider. I gave away the top off my parts truck to a fellow who was doing a resto mod with a US M37 onto a Dodge PU chassis. I would have traded for a couple of decent doors but haven't found any close enough to be worth looking at. Hope somebody out east grabs this top, its a good deal. There seems to be a few M37CDNs and parts for sale in Ontario right now if anyone is close enough. Funny how all the stuff I want or need is always on the far side of the known world from me....

Weren't the tops fiberglass? I ask 'cause I do have a fiberglass boat factory. All we really would need would be a plug to make a mold..

Re: M37 Hard Top For Sale - Ontario
Originally they were all steel. All of the reproductions I have seen are fiberglass. The fiberglass ones have also all been "improved" (for structural reasons, I believe) so they don't look the same as the steel ones. They also are not as rigid, they are not insulated and they seldom have the rear window.
If you could find a good steel one and make an accurate, rigid, insulated one with the correct rear window you might have a market.
At least a market of one

There are at least two fibreglass repo hardtops out there. I think Tom at Snake River 4x4 had one available and VPW marketed one also. I'm not sure there would be sufficient market to set up for another version, although it wouldn't be too difficult to separate the two pieces and create the mold. The rear slider window could be built by any good marine or RV window manufacturer. With the price of resin and materials today, probably not cost effective. That said, if you really wanted a hardtop, its possible. I have a near perfect hardtop that would make the ideal plug, but my fibreglass fabricating days are done. With a shop and the right equipment it would be a fun project.

Jess, if you have an original metal one with the sliding rear window that is looking for a new home, I would certainly be interested in providing one for it. It would live indoors in a heated and lighted area.

Re: M37 Hard Top For Sale - Ontario
Right now, they all have trucks under them. The one off my parts truck went to a resto mod locally. I will sooner or later have to decide what to do with the two sleepers that are in my driveway at the house. If I decide to part one of them, or outright sell, then I'll let you know. There must be lots around, just need to look for them. All the M37CDNs were equipped with the factory hardtop and lots of those trucks are now destined for the soup tin factory. If you want to borrow one for a plug to build a fibreglass model, let me know. You're close enough to throw it in the pickup and bring it down. RMS may also know of something around his area for sale or trade. He seems to have them follow him home....

Thanks, Jess! I am going to try to get up your way this spring/summer. My daughter goes to Vancouver fairly often, and I'll try to catch a ride with her. I need to take the tour at Robyn's and would like to see you also.
Please keep me in mind when looking at factory hardtops.
Thanks,
