Re: Show us your Steel...
Bought this MEP 026A at Aberdeen last weekend, Wisconsin Mil. Standard 4 cyl. engine, Onan gen. assembled by Hollingsworth ..$275 with the usual "Ran when parked" comment. Nothing missing and only 73 hrs. on the clock. Disassembled and cleaned the carb. put in 4 new plugs which I happened to have 8 of. Tank looked OK so added gas. oil looked new and pulled the starter rope several times and it fired up. I then adjusted the fuel-air mix so it ran correctly, flipped the breaker and had 28vdc with the tachometer showing 3600 rpm. "It's alive"
The unit will produce 107 amps. and up to 30volts just have to find something to hook it to for a output test.

Re: Show us your Steel...
I had some doubt about buying it without seeing it run but now happy I did get it. Had it running again yesterday for almost an hour. Now I need slave cables so I can attach it to the M if ever necessary.

Re: Show us your Steel...
I got a similar one (not sure which model) from Vintage Power Wagon last fall. It's a 53 amp, 28VDC generator that weighs about 125 lbs. and runs great.
They are very handy for running radios and charging batteries through the slave receptacle on the side of the truck.
It happily lives in the trailer with all the other vehicle recovery stuff.
Now I just need to find or build a 24VDC portable compressor.....

Looks similar, with small differences. I'll try to post a picture when I get home.
I've got some other pictures to post of an airshow last weekend, too.

Re: Show us your Steel...
Nice little air compressor cart, Tim. A little bigger than I'm looking for, but I'm sure I would find a use for it.
Do you use it often? What is it rated at, and is it gas fired?

Re: Show us your Steel...
I really don't know much about it or it's history.
Supposedly it ran when I adopted it? It is gas powered, 4 cyl I think.
Never had it running, I just put the new tires on it and sort of parked it.
My Lori, Aussie & I are heading to a Memorial Day event tomorrow in Deer Creek Illinois.
It's about 120 miles over there but we are happy to be invited! It's my only way of telling all you Veterans "Thank You", and showing my respect.
Got everything washed, now to get the M-37 & trailer loaded and hooked-up.

Re: Show us your Steel...
Went to the store and bought extra camera batteries just this morning!
Well, we're all hitched up and know where to go! Until tomorrow, "say good night Chet".
("Box-Car Willys" will sit in the front yard on display until Monday)

Re: Show us your Steel...
Not very active with the 37s this past year as I was teaching myself body and paint work.
it only took 9 months to get the paint to flow and finally its coming together
