New Show Signage for my M37

Post by creinemann »

Here is a photo of the sign I made for my truck, for car shows, military shows, exhibits, etc. This has been the summer of questions for my truck, so I decided to make up a weather proof sign, and mount it in a sturdy mil-spec looking frame. What do you think? And does this picture show up?

Carl,

That really looks great......very professional....and I love the color. Bet it cuts down on everyone asking the same questions over and over again. HEY............WAIT A MINUTE..........CHEESE AND CRACKERS!!!!...............DUDE..........THERE's NO DASH BETWEEN THE "M" and the "37"!!!!!! It's totally ruined.....what was the printer thinking???????? I can't believe it. You need to have him make you a brandy new one.....and send that one to me for proper disposal !!!!

Seriously.......awesome sign! I can't read the first big paragraph, but is that the ACTUAL history of your hood number?? If it is that's amazing!!

thanks for sharing,
bob

I designed the sign myself, soooo, the dash - is my fault/addition.... the FSN Federal Stock Numbers list it both ways...but anyway, I did all the design on my computer, then (drum roll) I had it printed at Vistaprint as a yard sale sign on plastic core material (weather proof) for under $20. Made the frame in the shop, and added some of the stencils I have lying around to 'dress' it up.

Nice part was Vistaprint on the first printing, printed the back upside down (they sent me a corrected one at no charge) so I have a second one to use if I need it

Thanks, I don't know why I didn't do it sooner, when i go to a show, I usually set up the truck trailer and gear, then walk around to see all the other vehicles, and swap meet stuff if there is any, Hopefully this will answer the questions when I am not there.

Could someone share what program you would use to make something like this and save it to a stick to take or possibly upload to have something like this made? I am pretty good with word, excel, pp and such but you would need to have a panel big enough to paste the text and such into. I am going to a show the weekend of the 13th and would very much like to have something like this for that show.

Thanks in advance.

Mark,
The software i used for mine was Microsoft Digital Image Pro and Paint Shop Pro. Microsoft word might work, but the trick is to set the page size to the actual size of the poster you want to make, and adjust the pictures and fonts accordingly. After it was all set on my computer, I saved it as a PDF and uploaded it to vista print as a yard sale sign, I printed it sideways so I could use it as a tall vertical sign in the frame I built.

Paint Shop Pro, I thought I was one of the last still using it. I stayed at Version 9 as 10 was a mess.
