(sorry for this extremely late reply) just noticed the posting I NEVER answered.. sorry
mine came out of Robertsville, MO area.
Story was it was in use by a school department to haul trash out of class rooms, not leaving the school grounds for many years. the seller had a few of them, and this was one of two (if I remember) that was used by the school. I am sure it had other owners and duties, cause picking up class room trash wouldnt have made such deep dents in the bed floor
In any case, I am very happy with the body sheet metal, no rust that I can find.. a few dents in the hood and rear fenders, and of course the inside of bed floor, from use, and it was missing a number of parts like pintle hook (found) front shackles (found), door spare tire carrier (found) and needed a canvas roof for the frame that came with truck (bought) and new seat covers (bought awaing install)
I am slowly going thru it, a "body-on" refurbish of sorts, making time as I can when I get to where its stored, at a remote cabin/workshop in SE oklahoma..so ts taking me an enormous amount of time to get finished! drives me crazy!!
it had multiple layers of paint on it, so I unbolted the entire front end, front fenders, light buckets, hood, grill, running boards, gas tank carrier, rear fenders and parts I could unbolt and had all of it sandblasted. sandblasted the entire canvas roof frame work, rear troop seat brackets, and all tiny bits I could get off the truck.
ALL back on truck now, all buttoned up. front end that is... bought my new oak for the troop seats and thats another project, for another day....
light sanding of the doors and bed sides was all it needed to look great.. (BTW.. mine had a lot of white paint as well... hummm)
anyway, my tailgate one of the straightest I have seen. bedsides as well... straight and clean...lights all working now, including tail and brake and even the blackouts all good.. wring harness, beleive it or not, NOT brittle or torn up as one would have expected. so using it for now unless I develop wiring issues.
So far bought everything for all new brakes, hoses, wheel cylinders and master...install all of the front end SO FAR..
(I needed to get working brakes and the rear were OK, so opted to do at a later date so I could run here around) and new armoured steel brake lines ready to go in when I attack the rear brakes. dropped gas tank and relined. new filter, screen, sending unit, etc.
as the truck has a whopping 2300 miles on the odometer all steering, engine, clutch and all seem very good. there isnt even a leak of engine oil or gear oil in the garage. nice
Previous owner no doubt installed the near new, if not NEW tires on it... locking hubs came on it too.
been working on the title.. its been a long journey, but appears to be nearing the end as I got word its back to the title company from the OK tax commision and on its way to me this week..who-ho!!
anyway, I am glad to have found such a solid truck... itys already been used to haul fire wood and dirt around the place.. one of these days, a nice sunny day, i will get photos of it as she sits today.. and post the "as bought" photo and current picture
