i have a m37b1 trans and a m37 shifter with the bolt in the back. on my m37b1 trans the nut needs to be in the front to bolt the shifter on. the trans is a nos trans. did they put the round metal rod in backwards or is the 2 models of shifters for these trucks.

My 1953 M37 with it's early trans has a short shift lever and the bolt is in the front. My 1963 USMC B1 with it's late trans has a longer shift lever with the bolt still in the front, that makes 3 different shifters. The more i learn the less i know.

They put the top shift stub in backwards. I saw that Charles had answered this question last month, in another thread.
