Is there anyone from AZ or NM on the forum? I tried searching the registry for location only and came up with zero hits.

Thanks! I'll do that. Don't know why I didn't think of that first. Yeah, I do! The member list is in "fine print" at the top of the page. I just looked at the bigger print on the rest of the menu.

My doctor has "suggested" that I move to a dryer climate. I was thinking of the Tucson area because of the proximity (right hext door) of Davis-Monthan AFB and a major VA health care center. If you can steer me to some affordable housing, it would help. Right now, I have a big 4 bedroom house with two garages on a large lot, but since this is a "depressed" area, market value is only about $69K. I'd be looking for a single-story, 3 bedroom home in the 60-80K price range.

Hi Lifer,
I'm not much of a real estate person. The Tucson area took a big hit when the market dumped. I could send you a list of local agents or the real estate adds in the paper if you are interested. Davis Monthan is on the souteast side of town and the VA it just off the freeway on the south side. Hey your truck will like a warmer drier climate also. NO RUST here. :)

Rick: The real estate ads from the Sunday paper would be great. My mailing address is
Charles Briggs
102 N. Carlysle Ave.
Abingdon, IL 61410

Recovery: Abingdon isn't "near" anywhere, which is probably why it's a depressed area. I'm 50 miles west of Peoria or 50 miles south of Moline/Rock Island. Trace I-74 west from Indianapolis to Galesburg, IL and then trace IL-41 south from Galesburg (9 miles). You'll find it. It's a nice place to live, actually, but I can't deal with the humidity any more. Hot and humid, I can't breathe. Cold and damp, I still can't breathe. Hot/dry and cold/dry are ok. It's the water in the air that I can't deal with. It might help if I grew gills??

Yeah, I guess you would be familiar with the area. We have a running joke here in town that we're not "on the way" to anywhere so if you find yourself in Abingdon you either intended to come here or you're seriously lost! ;)
