Manifold Gaskets

Post by pwrwagonfire »

Getting ready to put my truck back together after a bunch of gasket replacement, etc.

My question: should I use any type of sealant on the gasket that goes between the intake and exhaust manifold?

I usually use this with decent results:

I don't want to have any leaking issues once it's all assembled, but something is telling me to ask somebody...

Hoping to start pulling things the rest of the way apart tomorrow.

I was in the exhaust biz for years and we always used Acousti-Seal on all manifold work. expensive but works really well. up to 18 bucks a tube at napa these days. might get a better deal online.

I would pickup some ceramic never seize for the manifold bolts and do some port matching and radius work on the intake, clean up the cast flashing's but don't polish to smooth. the carter produces a coarse droplet, a ruff surface will help atomization.
