HELP !
Just changed my fuel pump to a new one from Midwest. I'm getting no fuel to carb at all, zilch !!! What could it be ? Don't think it's a bad pump. Also, my new one has a lever on the front, doesn't move too much, maybe quarter turn.

Re: HELP !
Is the fuel line petcock opened? If already checked, disconnect fuel line from carb and crank to let line fill. If still no flow, make sure pump diaphragm arm is correct on the cam lobe.

Re: HELP !
yup, opened petcock. Closed it when I took the pump off. Took off line at carb, no fuel. I didn't crank engine since pump was removed. just removed and replaced. Cant see its possible I missed cam lobe.
Re: HELP !
Bill. Check to see if the fuel line is clear and not clogged ? All connections on the line and pump are tight if not the pump will be sucking in air...

Re: HELP !
Yup, everythings tight. Nothing clogged. All I did was R&R the pump. Ran fine before. Going outside in a bit and put old pump back on.

Re: HELP !
I'm lost. Put old pump back on and still no fuel. Is it possible I'm missing the cam lobe. Don't see how. I guess no parade tomorrow.

Re: HELP !
When you remove it look inside to make sure the pump diaphragm arm is still hooked to the lever.

Was afraid somebody would say that, lol. No parade for M tomorrow. Will have to use the Tundra to mount the flags.

Re: HELP !
Disconnect your line from the carb and prime the pump with fuel. Then try again. You can also hook it up and give the engine a shot of ether, This would help prime the system. Sounds like your airlocked

Re: HELP !
Are you sure you have fuel? You could try dumping 5 Gallons into the tank and trying again to start the truck. Fuel level might be so low the pump may be sucking air if the tank filter is not completely submerged in gasoline.

Re: HELP !
Tank is almost full. Threw in a few gallons to top it off anyway. Line is off at carb. Tomorrow or Tuesday gonna pour some fuel into pump at carb fitting then take air hose and pressurize the tank some. That should work. Used the pretty Tundra (non OD) to represent my Vietnam Veterans Of America chapter in parade today. (Hey, it rides better than the M)
Re: HELP !
Neither pump works, re-tried the old pump and nothing. Has plenty of fuel. Try pushing air back to the fuel tank, ( before dong this remove any fuel filters )if something is stuck in the line that may help, then if you could reverse the air flow and pressure the tank to the fuel pump with the pump disconnected, the material that was blocking your fuel line may have been dislodged. Are the filters ok?

Re: HELP !
Sure theres no blockage. Truck ran great before I messed with pump. Just wanted to put new one in cause the old one leaked a bit plus wanted one with new diaphragm to handle todays fuel. Sure if I prime the system it will run. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks everyone !
