Steering Knuckle rebuild

I spend 14 hours over the last two days putting the M37 back together after my jumbo "steering knuckle rebuild kit" showed up from Midwest Military. Knuckle bearings and bushings, driveshaft bushings, felt, seals, and gaskets, inner wheel bearing, tie rod ends, and one drag link kit. All about 11 lbs of parts, 3lbs grease, and a bucket of gear lube to change all the fluids.

This would be a 62 M37B1 as original as we can keep her. We have owned this truck five years (also have a Dodge Town Wagon and a 68 Utiline pickup, holley, headers, glasspacks...)

I was a member about 5 years ago when I bought the truck...then I got busy with other things like work and four years of 3 weeks out of 4 travel on DoD Defense Production issues.

But now restoration efforts are back in full swing. Two gallons of the correct OD showed up last week and a paint and stencil kit is in the works.

While we will put the stars back on, our unit name will be Unaka Mountain.

As for the Town Wagon, owned it for 15 years, /6 NP420 and 3.55 suregrip rear with a holley and supersix intake:-)

The 68 Utiline Pickup gets most of the use, 318/727, holley, stage 1 intake, glasspack, headers, 3.90 suregrip rear end, with sideboards. Basically, it is my firewood and brush truck.

But the M37 is in the main bay of the shop right now, so it is getting as much work as possible, before the TW comes in for some rust repair.

We are located in the Johnson City, Tennessee area and my office is very close to the Bristol Motor Speedway for those NASCAR fans..

You will need more than two gallons to paint the truck. It sounds like your steering will be nice.

Why don't you think 2 gallons is enough for a top coat? paint thickness in only 3 mils and primer is cheaper than paint

Been to Bristol Speedway. Better than the super bowl...... anytime. Not a bad seat in the house.

Amen, the short tracks are all way better than a Super Speedway! Martiansville & Bristol were a blast.

how much was the bill for all those parts? minus the tie rod ends and wheel bearings? I may need to put htat order in soon
