winch bumpers for M - 37
I have looked high and low for a SPLIT BUMPER for my 1953 m37 , so that I can add my $800.00 winch . NO JOY . I also need ALL but two brackets ( I have the ones that bolt to the frame) My question is twofold - Does anyone know where I can find mounting brackets for a LU-4 Braden winch for less than $95.00 EACH ? In my case that comes out to about $800.00 . Unfortunately , I'm on a fixed Income , and my old lady would peel me with a dull knife were I to even suggest it .
Secondly - would the SPLIT BUMPER off of a Dodge power wagon fit (or could it be modified to fit) the M-37 ? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Re: winch bumpers for M - 37
I looked at the difference between M-37 and FFPW winch bumpers in the past...they seem very similar. If you wouldn't mind doing a little bit of tweaking (bolt hole locations), and could find one for cheap it is my general opinion that it is very do-able.
Those brackets go for crazy money don't they? I got lucky and just found a set in a box of parts I traded for.
My advice is to find an M-37 in a local junkyard, and barter with the owner. I've had luck in the past getting hard to find parts this way.
Good luck to you!

Hard to find for sure; I'm still running a pair of USMC bumperettes on mine until I can find a pair of USAs (I don't want to carve up the USMC clips in order to create a USA-looking pair). The Swap Meet section shows several guys looking for them.
I'll be going to the Lodi Tower Park/Camp Delta Spring meet in April and will keep an eye out for them, Dan, along with the extensions.

Hi Molder,
I don't think you'll find the mounts for lower prices than in this link.......but I don't know if these guys update their prices regularly either. Their site says they have both mounts cheap.....so give them a call. Cut and paste the link into your browser, than click on the last block on your left entitled "Group 21 Bumpers". You'll find the mounts under the first pic, parts "C" and "AA".
regards,
bob

NOTE: Make sure to ask how much the shipping and handling will be before you place the order. I had sticker shock on some.w30bob wrote:Hi Molder,

Re: winch bumpers for M - 37
So Dan,
Are you still looking for winch bumperettes? I didn't make it to Lodi but will be going to the event in Fruitland, Idaho the first week in June. Let me know if you still need them, specify USA or USMC, and the price you're willing to pay and I'll see what I can find. PM me with the details.
Thanks,
Gary

OK. With the demand for these I may need to buy up any I can find there.

Re: winch bumpers for M - 37
If you are handy with a saw & welder, you can make a set in one afternoon from a straight bumper easily enough.
I did several pair over the years, using a piece of 2" pipe to get the curved area just in front of the drum.
No one has been able to tell them from stock...

Sorry Jim,
No split bumpers nor much else there-I scored a decent jerry can, that's it.
