MVPA FORUM...

I spoke to Kurt a couple months ago. He has divested himself of M37s and PWs and begun hanging about with that unsavory Jeep crowd.
He still checks in at Joe's forum every so often.

It's kind of an odd feeling you get when someone moves on to something different. It's a bit like running into an old friend on the street, and discovering that they've become a heroin addict or a snake shaker or something like that.

Restored a '43 GPW, then a '53 M38A1, now have the M151A2. The A2 is the best of
all worlds for me. Two speed wipers, heater, roll cage, seat belts, catch nets,
turn signals, side curtains and doors, and it runs along just fine at 60 MPH.
My only complaint is that the running gear howels like a banshee. Ear protection required.
And.... this old man can get into and out of the M151A2 without a crane.

Jerry, In using the word "intranecine" I did not mean to vex anyone, nor was it meant as a slight to anyone by its usage. It was simply the correct and most succinct word for the purpose. The nearest approximation I suppose would be "infighting" and though it has been accepted sans hyphen in Webster's it does not convey the precise meaning. I was raised by people who made no allowance for one's unfamiliarity with any given word. We had at our disposal a well thumbed OED and a Webster's edition as well. I believe this led to the vocabularic perspicacity of my brothers and myself. After some six decades, I see no reason to change.

Sounds like time for me to chime in on the MVPA. I bounce around several forums on a "as I feel like it" basis as old dodge guy or variations on that. I do G 503 and G838 quite a bit, rarely steel soldiers ( as noted above, they seem to anger easily and on the oddest things), and MVPA on occasion. I do agree that the MVPA site is like listening to crickets chirp in a large empty room. That actually makes me sad, as there are a LOT of good people in the MVPA, with a lot of good information. As noted by several people above, the MVPA WAS a lot of stodgy old guys, but that generation is passing away. It is kinda pricey yet, but they are trying to change and gain younger members and with more memberships...lower prices. It's in the works. And yes, I am trumpeting the MVPA! There are good people there. We need more members and younger members to help move the organization forward. Those of you who have left, look into the changes and see if you would like to rejoin. Go to the MVPA site and chime in on the post SITREP on what you want to see the MVPA do or change. Want lower dues, let them know. I have been pushing lower dues for years, but one lone person can do nothing, a bunch of people may make them reconsider. Don't like just WW2 articles or emphasis, write an article for the magazine or let the leadership know your wishes. The survey is an excellent way to let them know what you want.
Yes, I am promoting the MVPA. I have been a member since 1976, through the battles, the bad and the good. I think the new leadership is moving in the right direction. Check them out all over again. Thanks......oldm37guy/ olddodgeguy, etc. MVPA 555

With respects, the MVPA lost quite a few folks when they made so many changes a few years back. If you go to the National now you have to pay extra for the vehicle placard-it used to be included with your event package. The articles I had submitted to this new group garnered no consideration nor a response so I don't bother submitting anything anymore. I used to have to no difficulty getting my articles included-John Varner was encouraging and always responded, and I received a number of positive responses from other members about my submissions.

Once, I took exception to one of the exalted Lloyd White's articles (because it bashed my employer, which based on my employment allows me to participate in this hobby) and wrote a rebuttal which, again was not acknowledged nor any response received.

Yet, I still re-up because I like the mags and the friendliness of the majority of the members. I would have never met Sid Beck, Fred Ropkey, John Bizal from MWM, and Steve from VPW if I dropped my membership. Sid and Fred, rest in peace-you are terribly missed.
