yellow hood accent
I have seen some 37s with the leading edge of the hood painted army yellow and some have the spare fuel can with the top painted yellow or white ,why is that ,confused m37 owner.
Re: yellow hood accent
The Yellow Stripe on the front of the hood was a marking for a transportation group in Vietnam. The commander of the group wanted to be able to see his trucks from the air as he was flying around, so he had his all his vehicles marked.
I don't remember the unit designation, sorry.
Someone else on here can probably give you more details.

He is correct. Mid 1969 the order went out for all 8th Trans Gp units to use signal yellow on the hood. The 8th Trans Gp ran in the Central Highlands from Qui Nhon to Pleiku. If your into history, read about Mobil force 100 with the French army. They were buried just up the hill from QL 19 and this was on the mind of every trucker that ran the road on a daily basis.52 M-42 wrote:The Yellow Stripe on the front of the hood was a marking for a transportation group in Vietnam. Here is my M-52A2 in 359th Trans Co markings taken in September.

The fuel can in question. Red topped cans are for MOGAS and yellow is for Diesel.
