Hi Guys,
What's the correct nut look like that holds the wiper arms to the motor? I've seen three different types so far looking online and the motors on my truck didn't have arms when I got it....so I don't have a clue which one is right.
thanks,
bob

Don't know if they are correct, but I have acorn nuts on mine
Re: What Does the Windshield Wiper Nut Look Like?
Nah, they are a reverse-tapered hex nut, designed to fit into the tapered socket on the arm.

Re: What Does the Windshield Wiper Nut Look Like?
Hi Guys,
I've seen the "acorn" looking nut, I've seen a cylinder with splines on the outside and inside, and I've seen a cylindrical nut with an actual 6-point nut on the end. I've been thru the manuals I have and none have a close-up pic of the wiper arm install. The diagram on the VPW catalog shows spacers and another nut....but that might just be for PWs and not the M. I'll try to post some pics tonight of what I've seen so far for nuts.
thanks,
bob

Re: What Does the Windshield Wiper Nut Look Like?
Hi Guys,
Here's pics of what I've found so far. The first pic looks like all one piece, but I guess the wiper arm slides over this and then there's a screw that secures the wiper arm to this.....don't know what that looks like. Second pic is of one wiper arm nut listd on on Ebay for M37 but it just looks like a spacer. Like the first pic but without the nut attached. Don't know what to think. The last pic is advertised as the "acorn" nut, again for M37.....don't know what parts go with it if any.
So can someone post a pic of what's supposed to be the correct way to attach the wiper arms to the motor shaft?
thanks,
bob

The one in the third picture is the one I've always seen.
Some were even chrome plated!

I second that
I have never seen a wiper arm conversion nut. with that you could upgrade to a pantograph style arm off a boat. I wonder if the stock wipers are strong enough
that's some d-lam on the window
that's cool52 M-42 wrote: The one in the third picture is the one I've always seen. 52 M-42

.............................. use it ...............
Re: What Does the Windshield Wiper Nut Look Like?
The ORD 9 describes it as: "NUT, blind, low crown, br, chrome-pltd, No. 10-32NF-2 (use with Lion and Trico arms only). & NUT, mounting, No. 10-32NF (use w/Anderson Arms only)."
I don't know which arm I have but I've only seen the brass "acorn" type nuts also which is what the "blind, low crown" style refers to.

Re: What Does the Windshield Wiper Nut Look Like?
Hi Rick,
Glad to help, even if it's unintentional.
I need to pull out a wiper arm to make sure I understand how it attaches to the motor arm. I understand the acorn nut on the outside, but there either needs to be a spacer that goes on the shaft first to index the arm...or it needs to be build into the arm. So I just gotta pull some parts and take a look.

bob
