So which end of the pedal to you try to start sliding the rubber pad over.....the thin but wide end where you put your foot.........or the large rectangular side at the opposite end? Or does it fit over both ends?

We stretched them over the pedal end. Of course I hadn't remembered to do it while the pedals were not installed so your mileage may vary.
