Sorry I've been away all summer. You know how it is. Once you complete your truck you don't need anymore help. M-37 was completed a few months ago and turned out terrific. Runs like a champ. Nows the time to fine tune a few things. Like the generator. It developed a squeal at the front bearing. I see a lot of posts mentioning a 100 amp generator. My tag says 25A. Is that the norm ?
Anyway, how hard is it to change that bearing myself ? And where do I find that bearing ? Any help would be appreciated.

The 25A system is stock OE for these. The radio trucks and some later trucks were upgraded to 60A and 100A systems depending on their need for the extra power.
I've never taken one apart but it can't be that hard. As an electronics tech by trade, I'd just be careful pulling it apart to keep account of all parts and screws in the order they come off, don't break any wires, and tag anything I disconnect. All that is fairly standard practice with me and electronics as I figure it is for most techs.
I presume it is the Auto-Lite model generator. The ORD 9 manual describes it as 0.6693" bore, 1.8504" OD, 0.5512 width (I presume that means thick). The PNs listed for it are: 712125, AL-X3038 (Autolite PN), CC-1273456 (even Chrysler had their own PN for it). I don't know what they translate to but maybe if you took the Autolite PN to a local parts house they may be able to cross reference it or by the dimensions described in the manual.

Thanks everyone. Ran into a guy at a car show (My M won) who owns a starter/alternator shop. Think I'll pull it and let him do it. Gettin lazy in my old age.
