what is the best brand of paint?

Post by 06boblee »

I have found Aerovoe, Randolf, TM9, and Gillespie. I have read negative comments on Aerovoe a few years ago. (24087) I bought some spray cans from RAPCO years ago that was supposed to be gillespie, but that name was nowhere to be found on the cans- it was Custom Aerosol Products
What is your vote on who is the best?
Thanks

I've used and like TM9. It is one tough paint. A little more difficult to use, you can't get it in spray cans, but it is a GREAT paint!

Just my 2 cents worth.

Over on the steel solders site they have been talking for a while about getting good paint from Home Depot and Lowe's.

They are getting the water based acrylic outdoor paint. The trick is getting the person mixing it to drill down into the Federal paint codes to get the right mix.

They have been brushing it on and using a electric painter like a Wagner. They seem pleased. I have not seem them come up with a semi-gloss yet.

Do a "search" on this site. You'll find pages of facts and opinions on paints.
Personally, I've used Aervoe and hate it.
Gillespie is fair to good but far from the high quality automotive paints found
at DuPont, Sherwin-Williams and others.
You get what you pay for. Gillespie, to say it kindly, is "inexpensive."
But it's far from the quality of the REAL (say expensive here) automotive paints.

If you want show quality appearance and durability, spend the bucks.
If you don't care about winning a national show or you'll be going off roading or
just want a fresh coat of O.D., Gillespie might be just the trick.

As I've said before, Ask 10 people about paint and you'll get 10 opinions.
My two cents...........
