Carburator gasket needed

Post by Chris P »

Does anyone know where I can purchase a main body gasket for the ETW1 carburator without having to buy a whole carb kit?
Thanks

If its nothing really elaborate, you can make a gasket from a cereal box... I've done it at least a half dozen times on everything from 4bbls to single barrels... Works just if you take your time and do a good job...costs almost nothing....

Did a similar thing for my distributor gasket. Apply your favorite gasket "goop" (eg formagasket or gold spray) and you're good.

Paper Temp tags also work well for gasket material.

Wow....to think I've been buying gaskets all these years and have probably thrown away HUNDREDS of cereal boxes. If the cereal folks were smart they'd start printing gasket designs on the back of their boxes instead of pictures of leprichans and tigers and rabbits!! Although....with the price of cereal these days....maybe buying a gasket is cheaper!

I really appreciate the advice, but that gasket looks too complex for me to try to cut one out. It's a very odd shape.

Can you post a picture of the gasket you need (beat up is ok)? I have a couple of oddball gaskets that might be what you need.

Its the one with three large main holes;

You can probably see why I don't want to try to cut one out.

I know this won't help you now but what I do when I buy a rebuild kit is to take all the gaskets and scan them to my computer. This way if I ever need to make one I already have the pattern.
