Not so much hard to find as wickedly priced. Used 200K miles around here are going for 2-3K. Great motor and that's why people can ask so much for them, but not worth the price to me.

I just finished mine. Has a 6BT auto trans. Custom custom M37 though... Looks great and runs wonderfully. gets 22 MPG. very happy with mine. The 1st gen cummins noise really suits the look of this M37.... my 2 cents.

From the price point, and if it fits, the CUCV 6.2 looks like a good option, especially if you run 4.88s

Retiredguy, I'd say yours is more of a '92 with a badass body kit than an M37... The Gov't probably agrees since it has to be registered and insured by the frame not the body... Either way, I would love nothing more than to put a 6bt under the hood of mine, but it doesn't seem like that is going to happen unfortunately.

You are right it is a body "kit" on a newer chassi, but it is still registered as the body (1952). Gov here don't care, just give them a number and they are happy. I never had an actual bill of sale to register it either. All I had to do is write a letter (infront of them) stateing that I own this and it got signed by me and a Commisioner of Oaths and it was a done deal.
