Hi everyone,
I am currently in the middle of a Cummins repower for my 63 Dodge m37. I've got the motor and transmission mounts made and need to figure how to use the stock pedals. Months ago I came across a device someone used on there conversion that mounts behind the floorboard to convert the pedal to cable driven. I've figured out the clutch but need to figure out the gas pedal. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the stock pedals!? Thanks

It sounds like what you need are heavy duty push pull cables. They usually have a clevis at both ends, and a housing that keeps the wire rope rigid. You'll have to be creative about getting the linear motion you desire, but I've done it and it's not too difficult. The cables are most often found on heavy equipment and boom trucks. I'll see if I can find you an image and brand name to look for. I get my replacements at a large hydraulic hose outfit. You should have a Parker store in your area and they usually have them too.
We have a shop here locally that specializes in control cables like these. I'll see if they are part of a chain.
I found that adding an eccentric cam to the pedal assy. gave me great mechanical advantage and a softer pedal throw.

Try this site. Bowden and Morse are the brands I encounter most. They can be custom made with clevis or threaded rod terminations to name but two.

I'd have to see your setup to offer much help; however we have done many Cummins conversions in M37 trucks. It is simple to use simple mechanical linkage and original pedals in their original position; I hate both cable and hydraulic clutch controls. Once again I'd have to see what you have, but it truly sounds like you are literally going around the world just to cross the street.
