Anyone going to Iola?

Post by m37jarhead »

Last summer 6 or 8 of us g741 guys met at the Iola, Wi. show. The plan is the same.
Meet at the tower around high noon on Sat. and stand around and trade lies about our M37's. :D
Maybe we can schedule lunch in the barn? Might give a little more time to schmuz.
The Iola, Wi. show is: August 10th and 11th. Admission is $6.00

If you choose to participate, PM me with your screen name, your real name and possibly
your cell number. Or you can contact me at cell number: 480-227-8876. Email address
is: m37grunt@yahoo.com Or, you can just show up at the tower, all will be welcome.
You might also add your name to this original post for everyone else to see.

Lemme' know........

I'm headed out in the morning. Plan to be there but if not, I'm probably looking at something on a table. I know of two others from Indiana there with M37s (though I don't think either are registered on this site). Between the three of us, hopefully one of us can tell time.

I arrived in Iola yesterday evening had to leave the m37b1 at home, I have to get some more parts so I can put it back together :D . Just look for the guy running around in a t-24 weasel with a k-38 trailer tagging along behind. I have already picked up some good deals on Thursday and had to use the trailer to bring'em back to the truck. There is one nice m37 here so far and a bunch of other vehicles. My camera will be busy. It will be great to see you guys. We are going over to Symco for the car show later this morning to see some 8) old traditional hot rods and get a Kent's big bar ice cream MMMMMMM.

We ( my girlfriend , her son and I) had a good time. I thought that the parts swap meet was a little smaller. A few of the normal guys, that I know, were not there. Overall vehicle turn out was a little down too. Camping crowd was good. Fridays crowd seemed normal, Saturday was very good and Sunday, a lot of us were gone by noon and we had some showers. I hope that it continues to be an event in the future. Running the t-24 weasel around the whole weekend, answering questions about it and shopping kept me pretty busy. It was nice to meet up with a couple of m-37 guys for a little bit, sorry that I had to keep it short as I was summoned by my better half and her friend the ww2 "nurses". We plan on attending next year at the same campsite.

It was good to see T highway (Bert) and Skinned Knuckles (Paul) at the tower at noon on Sat.

As always I found some "treasures" that I couldn't live without. Now the problem is how to get them
home on Southwest Airlines.
Fri. and Sat. weather good. A little rain on Sunday.
Lots of Mil. vehicles on display.
The amount of vendors looked about the same or a little less than last year.
Glad to see Dave Pizzoferroto, Wee-Bee Webbing, at the show. Great person,
sells quality stuff.
Kevin, Star Elec., always has "stuff" that I need.

It was a good show. My wallet is a whole lot lighter and I'm a whole lot happier.

My wife and I enjoyed the Iola event. I did notice a few less parts vendors but the amount of vehicles on display seemed to be about the same. I was able to find all of the M101 trailer parts and M1009 CUCV parts that I was looking for.

I enjoyed finally meeting Jerry (m37jarhead) and seeing Paul (skinnedknuckles) again. I'd swear that Paul was trying to wear out his new Weasel tracks but he claimed that he was only breaking them in.

I did find out just how small the world is while I was admiring a nice restored M37. I started talking to the owner only to find out that he lives about a 1/2 mile from our place up-north.
I will post pictures when I find the cord for the camera.
