You'll never guess

Finally started to prepare the old girl to awake from a long winter's nap. Fully charged batteries, fresh gas, got her off of the jack stands, a squirt of oil in each piston.

When I first went to fire it up, I got nothing. No starter spin, no lights, not even a click. Out came the DVM. Nope, both switches (cut out & ignition) worked. Had continuity along + wires, but intermittent 24V difference from engine ground to input to starter.

I pulled the battery to frame ground wire, and inserted some new internal/external tooth washers (perhaps a few too many?). Fired right up like it never was put to bed!

Well, you know what they say, you can trust your Mother ...
You can trust your mother, but you can't trust your ground.

Glad your truck started up . Hard to believe that a ground can be so important . MV Magazine even did an article a few issues ago about grounding. A good ground can make a big difference in how the whole system works.
