DAP, Tires are retreaded military NDT's.
w30bob, My M37 color is late ww2-korea semi gloss. I will have to get the number off the can tomorrow. Like I said, picture was just after it was painted. Also the picture was taken in bright sun light which makes it look lighter in color. I will take some current pics and post them. Since the picture I have finished the bed wood, installed the rear canvas, replaced the tires with new NDT's and added combat rims.
Also that is a sign from M-37, which is a state highway near my home. Runs north and south on the west side of the state.
Bert, Thanks. I didn't know how to change that over.

I thought the post wwII pre-vietnam green was a dark green not the pea soup green of wwII.
Bob, do you have a rattle can of the color that you want to paint your truck? If so could you spray a small piece of flat metal with it and then take that to the automotive paint store to have it color matched? This way you could get the expensive 2 part paint that you want for your truck? Just a thought.

M37s are HMMWV in my world!
Re: Anybody's M Painted OD 2430 ??
Hi K8,
Yeah, that would be the plan. I've got a bunch of NOS pieces made in the early 50's that are the correct color, like the tail light brackets, master cylinder cover plate, etc., that the paint guys could use to color match to also. The TM9 2430 rattle can matches those perfectly. BUT.......I really want to see a whole truck painted this color first.
Steve........man, your truck sounds REALLY nice now. I want a set of combat rims so bad I can taste 'em......but I haven't had any like finding any so far. Well.....I'm going to look at a pair this weekend but have been told by the seller not to get my hopes up too high......they've been sitting outside for a long time.
Looking forward to your pics!
thanks,
bob

Hey Bob,
I'm looking for a set of combat rims as well, will watch out for them in Portland and will let you know. PM me with your high price so I know your $ limit.
Thanks,
Gary

Re: Anybody's M Painted OD 2430 ??
Pics as requested. Paint is Gillespie 23070.

Pics were taken under some shade from trees on a bright day (today).
Also I have an 2 extra combat rims, but they need some welding repair, and then I would only use them for low pressure spare tire use.
Steve
BTW. Can't figure out why, but the pics are cut short on the right side when they display on the page.

Re: Anybody's M Painted OD 2430 ??
Hi Bob,
My truck is painted with TM9 catalyzed urethane paint (24097, which is not the color you prefer) which is one tough paint. It is semi gloss, which is probably not correct either, but the durability of the paint is what is important to me.
The Army was still using the M-37 when I was in the Army and the paint colors on the trucks (under the mud and dust) was a mismatch of shades and colors. I honestly don't remember seeing a "pretty" M-37; the ones I saw all looked like old farm tractors. Great trucks, but not something anyone would drive in a parade or display in a car show.
TM9 does produce a top notch paint however, and it is really nice to have a paint that is almost as tough as the truck.

I just sent some photos to your private email address.
I can't find the directions RMS posted for getting pictures onto the site (it was around late Dec 2012 to mid January 2013). They are GREAT directions and I can't find them
.
I hope they make it through the ether to your mail box.
If anyone knows where RMS' picture posting directions post is, please let me know.
Thanks!

Steve,
Thanks for posting the pictures of your M37. That is one nice looking truck. How about a picture or two of the cab interior?

now lets see a build thread full of pics of your M

what kind of coating did you use on your bolts 52 m-42 and how did you get them installed with out scratching the paint? my square washers are turning making rings on the fresh panels.
sorry for the jacking
.............................. use it ...............
Re: Anybody's M Painted OD 2430 ??
THANK YOU!!!
I believe those are the directions I've been looking for.
I will try to post more picks this weekend (probably Sunday because there is the Arlington, WA Fly-In on Saturday).
As for the bolts and nuts, they are silver cad plated. It was easier to dip and plate than to re-tap / re-thread all those nuts and bolts.
As for the square washers tearing up the panels, I put a regular round washer under the square washers before tightening them. Just make sure the round washer is a smaller diameter than the square washer. It is almost impossible to see them without a magnifying glass and it keeps the square washers from gouging the panels. As I recall, the Army didn't care though.

Re: Anybody's M Painted OD 2430 ??
I have a 52' and I consulted Midwest Military, I got that semi gloss that they make for those years. This is my truck right now with that paint, we have a few more things to shoot but the body (not the hard top) are painted.
