My truck on Ebay

Post by matttupp84 »

I listed my truck on Ebay if any of you guys are interested. I was able to get a title for it. So it now has a clean title. Let me know if you guys think this is a reasonable price? It is a winch truck, so i know it alone is worth some money. I love the truck but i've come to the realization that i just dont have time to restore it. If i sell it I will just look for one in driveable condition. Thanks guys.

Hi matttup,

Although I haven't been in the M37 hobby all that long, it's become obvious to me that estimating a value for one of these trucks is just about impossible. It seems more like finding the right person and timing are more important than anything else. I think you could ask 20 people what a truck is worth and you'd come up with 20 very different answers. I know what I just said is a cop-out and doesn't help you one bit......and I appologize for that......but due to the wide range of conditions these trucks come in I can't see how anyone could standardize a price for any of them.

That said, you could certainly look at it from the perspective of parts value. Is it worth 2 grand as a parts truck? Sort of the same thing applies.....you need to find the right guy at the right time. You don't say if the truck runs and drives, or if the brakes work....or if it doesn't run does the motor turn freely. If it doesn't run I guess you don't know if the winch works or not too. There's no doubt that M37 parts are getting more expensive and harder to find every day.....but they're not impossible to find just yet. If it doesn't sell on eBay for what you have it listed for you might want to relist it and include a list of what you think are the good parts. Just a suggestion. Have you listed it on Craig's List? Seems that site really attracts a lot of buyers.

regards,
bob

Thanks for your input i really appreciate it. I thought i mentioned in the ad that it did not run. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I just revised it a bit to say that it does not run or drive but the motor does turn over by hand. And I agree, it all depends on timing and the right person. I dont really know how I came up with $2,000. It just seemed like an appropriate amount I guess. I have a little more than that in it. I just figured with all of the good parts on it, there would be probably around $3,000 in parts if someone wanted to part it out. So there is still a little meat on the bone I guess at $2,000. I just really hate parting out restorable vehicles. I feel like i am destroying them. I would rather sell it at a cheaper price to someone who wants to restore it just to see it still survive. But thats the old car guy in me talking. Thanks again for your input, i really do appreciate it. And if it doesn't sell i guess i will just hold on to it and maybe one day get around to getting it going. Its inside of my shop, so its not out in the elements rotting away anymore atleast.
