Corio Air Engineers 1 Ton Trailer

Post by Monkey Man »

I just picked up a 1 ton trailer to go behind the Dodge, made by Corio Air Engineers, has mechanical surge brakes, a little bit of damage to repair on the guards, seals on the hubs and service the brakes plus some paint plus I'll swap out the 900-20's for 8.25 20's or even look at adapting Dodge wheels onto there as the 900-20's give it a little too much practical height for the M37. The truck seemed to tow it with no issues but new tyres for the M37 would help as these ones run at 25Psi so I tend to get a little sway up at speed but nothing like the tankslapper effect you get with a big caravan, any suggestions??

Looks like it will be a perfect match for your truck. What was it used for and it's hard to tell with my old eyes but how old is it?

Looks like an old ammo trailer of the British or Australian Army. :? I know I've seen one of these before.

It has 21/10/59' so it is more or less the same age as my truck, I managed to get a good deal off the guy that sold it to me, I said I wanted the smaller 8.25/20 tyres for it so he has swapped me a rim and tyre set to suit so apart from paint the tyres are sorted and it's ready to roll. I have to check the hubs and brakes, power wash and scrape it all, run the temporary lights wiring and get it inspected. I just hope that when I do that they don't look too closely at the truck's tyres...

It appears Corio was contracted to make the trailers per the British blueprint, basically the same design but with the square guards as opposed to the rounded guards plus a few other bits perculiar to Australia's Defence Force, I am keen to find out more about it...
