My M37 has a small housing on top of the water pump that feeds the thermostat housing, the problem is that it doesnt quite line up with the thermostat housing so the short hose that connects the two is tweaked badly to make the connection.
I have another engine but there isnt even a housing on that one, the T stat housing has a plugged outlet so my question is whats this unit and is there one that lines up properly? its not the end of the world but it just bugs me.
Thanks

Re: Water pump housing question
The parts book just calls it an elbow. I'm pretty sure mine lines up straight with the t-stat housing. A picture might help identify whether you have some kind of parts mis-match-never know what's been done in the last 50 years.

Re: Water pump housing question
the elbow have has a slight offset for some reason, mabye from a civi model? I wont be able to get pics till monday
Re: Water pump housing question
is it out left to right or up and down? if its up and down it sounds like your head has been milled and the water elbow no longer lines up. easy fix run the aluminum elbow on a belt sander till it lines up. if its left to right......... you got me?nhjohnny1 wrote:the problem is that it doesnt quite line up with the thermostat housing
.............................. use it ...............
Re: Water pump housing question
sorry, i left that part out. its off to the left and right, height is fine, it works but its not pretty
Re: Water pump housing question
that is strange. maybe a mis-drilled water pump? is there enough slop in themouning holes to slide elbow into place?nhjohnny1 wrote:sorry, i left that part out. its off to the left and right, height is fine, it works but its not pretty
