speedo cable

Post by SydneyM37 »

I have been trying for about an hour to fit the connector on the transfer case, i am finding it impossible to bend it about 90deg so as to screw it on.

anyone else have this kind of dilema, i'm feeling since i have 4.89 why bother, as it will be out anyway.

Since you have 4.89 gears, why not go to your local speedometer shop or streetrod parts supplier (or mailorder house) and get a right angle adapter that also corrects the gear ratio? That way, you not only "solve" the right angle bend problem (not only making it easier to attach the cable, but reducing the possibility that the cable will break at this location from being stressed...), but you get a speedo that reads correctly...

I find attaching a cable to the stock setup to be a pain, but doable...

I really like the DATCON electric speedo in my Cummins powered truck since it has a sender that bolts onto the t-case with a pair of electrical leads going to the speedometer head that eliminate this issue, but then, the truck is a ways from stock... :)

Good luck.

I'm nearly thinking of getting one of those NAV man gps things as they have the correct speed via the satelite.
