I have a Clark 5 spd out of a truck . Are there any ID numbers that are cast on it ? I could check on mine if that would help.

To my knowledge, if the trans was a 285VO, it would be an overdrive unit. What engine was this transmission originally installed behind? What engine are you looking to install it behind?

it was behind an IH gasser. it was bolted up using an SAE adapter. I have an SAE 3 adapter for a 58 to 61 Chrylser poly that I want to put it all together and put in a yet to be found dodge truck.......

What model gasser IH truck did this come from?

Note as well that some parts for Clark transmissions are hard to get or obsolete... Here is a good resource for you to read from Roadranger regarding the Clark units & the more modern replacement transmissions.

http://www.roadranger.com/ecm/groups/pu ... t-0069.pdf

According to this document, the Clark Assembly Number is 285983... you might contact Roadranger to see if they can tell you more about the build of this trans based on the assy number. But from what I see, I believe that your trans is a NON-overdrive unit - direct 1.00:1 in 5th gear.

This number - 497647C91 - is an International part number... http://www.progearandtransmission.com/P ... atalog.pdf
