I HAVE BEEN OFF LINE FOR AWHILE, GOT HIT HARD BY SANDY, I LIVE IN BREEZY POINT. I PUT MY M ON WHAT I THOUGHT WAS HIGH GROUND, NOT QUITE HIGH ENOUGH. WE HAD ABOUT 6 TO 8 FEET OF WATER COVER OUR PART OF ROCKAWAY BEACH. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE M, AND MY DAILY DRIVER, FORD TAURUS WAGON, I NOTICED THE TAURUS HAD SHIFTED POSITION AND HAD FILLED WITH WATER; THE M WAS STILL AS I HAD LEFT IT. THE OCEAN HAD GONE OVER THE WHEELS BUT NOT SHORTED THE BATTERIES. I CHECKE THE OIL, LOTS OF WATER, DRAINED IT AND THE FILTER, NEW OIL; AFTER ATTEMPTING TO START HER A COUPLE OF TIMES SHE FINALLY WENT OFF. LOT OF WHITE SMOKE BUT THAT CLEARED UP AND SHE DROVE OK. CHECKED THE DIFERENTIALS, FULL OF WATER, TRANSMISSION, FULL OF WATER, TRANSFER CASE?? STEERING BOX?? I SIDE TRACKED HER FOR A MONTH IN BROOKLYN, I HAD TO LIVE ON MY BOAT WHILE ELECT AND GAS WAS RESTORED AND MY HOUSE WAS TORN APART SO IT COULD DRY OUT. I BROUGHT HER BACK TO BREEZY POINT TODAY, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE CLUTCH AND PRESSURE PLATE ARE STUCK TOGETHER, COULD NOT SHIFT THRU THE GEARS WILL CK FURTHER AS THE WORK ON THE HOUSE IS MY FIRST PRIORITY, 4 FEET OF WATER IN MY FIRST FLOOR I WAS ABLE TO MOVE BACK IN TO MY HOUSE THIS PAST WEEK, AFTER A MONTH ON THE BOAT. STILL HAVE LOTS TO DO ON THE HOUSE.. ANY THOUGHTS ON THE CLUTCH???

i wouldnt be surprised if the salt water siezed the 2 together. remove the inspection plate and try using a thin putty knife tap inbetween clutch disk and flywheel in the visible area, manually turn motor and slowly go around sliding/tapping the knife until you get to the point where you started. worked on my buddies M after it sat for a few years and the clutch siezed to the flywheel

Sorry to hear you got hit so hard Bob. I was wondering how you made out, most all of the g741 crowd was accounted for. I guess high enough never is. A local trolley museum went under again, ironically a week before they started construction on new buildings on higher ground. I think Tuko's idea is good to start though the best way may to bite the bullet and take the tranny out, replace everything under there. Be sure to replace your axle vents and you might want to flush the axles, tcase and tranny a few times before refilling. I think I'd use a thinner motor oil to try to rinse out as much as I could. I'm not sure but I think I'd be looking at the wheel bearings and steering knuckles too. For sure, I'd certainly be pumping everything full of grease.

THANKS for your input. I had just greased all fittings with marine waterproof grease, Yes I will drain flush and refill all all that got wet. I had to change the engine oil twice before i got rid of all traces of water,

That is too bad to hear about the vehicles that went swimming in the salt water. I can’t imagine how much fresh water it is going to take flushing all of the crack and crevices cleaning the salt out. Good luck with the clean up and let us know how it’s going.
