What to do with extra front axle?

Post by Section106 »

Hi all. I have an extra front axle assy and would like some input as to its worth. Specifically, should I keep it or strip some of the usable components and take the rest to the salvge yard?

Any advise is greatly appreciated!

If you have space it is a good idea to keep it complete...
Maybe you can slowly open it - inspect it and why not rebuilt and keep it as a spare ...
All these parts will be obsolete in a few years...

im with Jim keep it keep it complete or strip it down into manageable pieces. if you use and abuse your truck you will need it. if you have bad drivers in your area you could need it. i had a wheel collision years back and my insurance company payed out $4500 to have the front axle housing magnafluxed and one tire. if i had a spare housing back in the day that $4500 would have gone in my pocket not the shop that put my truck back together wrong.

You do know that the pumkins are the same front and rear? It's always good to have spares especially wear items.
