Canadian PTO idler gear

Post by m15256 »

Bill Anthony in Churchill Manitoba is still looking for a CDN (Acme) PTO idler gear. Yes, I know the subject has come up before but maybe there are now some new members that have a lead. My info that VPW had some was wrong. Any possible threads to follow would be appreciated. I'll send the info on to him. Thanks, Rick

The search is still on. Bill is looking for someone to cut a gear but the cost will be high. I have made a number of inquiries at major gear cutters around here but they don't seem to want to get into it. I have a pto that we could use the idler as a pattern. The other option is a different pto. Not sure, but I think the M715 has a T98 trans, uses the same winch, so maybe that is a lead to follow. Also, other Jeep and International trucks had the T98 but so far, haven't found any Jeep guys or Binder heads that can confirm that or what side the pto opening is on. Some parts from the IH trans will fit the Acme, so who knows? I'd like to see and US pto next to the ACME pto and see if the idler is the only difference. If so, then having a gear cut would be viable to convert ptos to use on CDN trucks.
