FOR SALE

Post by BILL L »

I have one long shift handle for sale. If you have one of the short shifters this is a must do replacement. It makes gear shifting soooo much easier. Easy and quick to replace and uses original shift knob. Shifter is good used original M37 part. $20 plus shipping. I havent seen one of these offered in a long time. If interested please respond to Autodoc51@aolo.com

I picked one up at the Vintage Power Wagon Rally this year. Paid lots more than what Bill is offering his for! It really does make a difference in the shifting. The other thing that is nice is that it lifts the shifter away from the seat in 2nd, 4th and reverse, which is nice if you have a passenger in the middle. No more groping the middle passenger!
So, someone buy that shifter NOW!

David,
When you first swap it out, you will feel like one of those old Rat Fink posters, with the guy shifting way over his head.
I rebuilt my transmission last winter and used one of the NOS top covers. Man, are they stiff at first! The longer cane made a noticable difference, and of course they wear in soon enough.
Enjoy,
Tim

David,

I picked up my longer shift lever from Sid a few years back and it was a great improvement.

Shifter swapped

Post by HingsingM37 »

Installed the shifter Saturday. Here are some pics of the two styles of shifters side by side:

It took me a few miles to get used to it. It felt like a different transmission entirely. Overall easier to shift. I like the look. I also got to use my electric wipers for the first time yesterday as we got caught in some heavy rain. They worked well. I need to snugg up my front windows and re-work the seals as some water sprays in. It was a fun ride in the rain though :)

Bill,
I received my shifter a couple of days ago, thanks for the fast shipping, it's installed and what a difference it makes, I'm tall and I don't have to reach down to shift now, much more comfortable.
