Welding with our M37

So I have been welding for close to 45 years. I also do not have a gas powered welder, as all my welding is done in my shop / garage. While doing up my truck I added the 24V slave receptacle so I can fire up my military gen-set. My guess is with two 12 V batteries in series I should get at least 90 amps DC at the electrode. 3/32" 6010 should run fine for a quick and short 1" bead. The reason I ask is I need to tack on a chain up at our skeet range on the entrance gate. Anyone tried this?

Thanks for the link. I thought it should work, now all I need is to get a male plug for my slave and attach some cable. BTW, no need for goggles. Just a welding shields 10+ shade lens, some duct tape and a piece of cardboard. I had to make welds on pipe so close to walls that a shield wouldn't fit.

I used the M37 battery method years ago to repair a broken hood hinge while it was still bolted to the truck, worked great using 3/32" 6011, only ran a couple short beads and that did not hurt the batteries at all. No computers back then so no one to ask, just thought it up and did it.

A couple of years ago I welded one of my concrete saws back together using an Ez-Go golf Cart, some jumper cables, and a piece of steel wire used for a cardboard baler. It was Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend, I was 2 hours from my shop, and I had a job to ge done. It wasn't too pretty, but it got the saw running again, and got me through the job. BTW It got fixed right when I got back to my shop.
